Common ground

What serious Kinesiology programs share.

Muscle testing as a feedback tool

Muscle testing is central to Touch for Health, which progresses from 14 to 42 muscles, and to the One Brain system of Three In One Concepts. Brain Gym's Action Balance also draws on it, although Breakthroughs International does not detail muscle testing in its published course descriptions.

Sessions built around a goal

Touch for Health teaches goal balancing in level 3, and Brain Gym 101 teaches clients to set Action Goals. In both, the goal stated by the person frames the start and end of a session, so the balance can be checked against what they wanted to change.

Emotional stress release

Touch for Health introduces emotional stress reduction from level 1 and adds emotional balancing in level 3. Three In One Concepts places the defusion of emotional stress and the identification of behavioral blocks at the heart of its One Brain system.

Modular paths with strict prerequisites

All three organizations use levels that must be taken in order. Touch for Health moves through levels 1 to 4 before proficiency and instructor training, Brain Gym requires several courses before its Teacher Practicum, and Three In One Concepts asks for 12 classes in sequence before consultant training.

Licensed instructors

Each organization licenses or registers instructors, and only they can teach official courses and issue official certificates. Touch for Health registers IKC instructors, Breakthroughs International licenses Brain Gym instructors, and Three In One Concepts certifies instructors and advanced instructors, listed in a public directory.

Differences

Where the programs differ.

Weekend modules or a one-week intensive

Touch for Health levels usually run as 15 to 16-hour weekend modules, but the IKC also offers a one-week Synthesis intensive covering all four levels in about 60 hours. Brain Gym 101 runs 24 hours over 3 days. Three In One Concepts publishes only the length of its 4-day Advanced Structure/Function Insight class.

Structural, learning or emotional focus

Touch for Health centers on muscles, meridians, reflexes and posture. Breakthroughs International applies kinesiology to learning, with 26 movements, the PACE routine and Dennison Laterality Repatterning. Three In One Concepts focuses on emotional stress and behavior, with classes on relationships, childhood, aging and pain.

Practice and personal session requirements

Three In One Concepts requires students to receive sessions during their path and to give 20 private sessions, including 4 with new clients, before instructor level. Breakthroughs International requires case studies before its Teacher Practicum. Touch for Health confirms skills through an open-book written and practical proficiency assessment.

Anatomy and published pricing

Breakthroughs International's instructor path requires 14 university credits in anatomy or kinesiology, and it accepts Touch for Health toward this. Brain Gym 101 is listed at $380 with one licensed instructor, and one IKC instructor lists all four TFH levels at $1,400. Three In One Concepts does not publish prices.

How to choose

How to choose a Kinesiology certification program.

  1. 1

Pick the branch that fits your goals

Choose Touch for Health for a structural, meridian-based balancing system, Brain Gym for movement routines applied to learning and education, and Three In One Concepts for work centered on emotional stress. Your future clients should guide the choice.

  2. 2

Decide between modules and a continuous format

Most kinesiology training stacks short modules over months or years. If you prefer continuity, ask about intensives such as the IKC Touch for Health Synthesis, and check how much practice time happens between modules.

  3. 3

    Check instructor credentials

Official certificates come only from licensed or registered instructors, so verify this before you pay. Ask your instructor which organization licenses them and which certificate you receive: attendance, proficiency, consultant or instructor.

  4. 4

Estimate the full cost across levels

Prices are often set per module by each instructor. Add up every level you plan to take, manuals, retakes and travel, and ask for current pricing where the organization does not publish it.

  5. 5

    Look at continuing education value

If you already hold a license, such as massage or nursing, check whether courses count for continuing education. TFHKA courses are approved for NCBTMB and California BRN credits, as published.

Questions

Kinesiology certification programs: common questions.

How much does kinesiology certification cost in the U.S.?

Prices are usually set per course by each instructor. One IKC Touch for Health instructor lists $375 per level or $1,400 for all four levels online. Brain Gym 101 is listed at $380 plus a $40 manual with one licensed instructor. Three In One Concepts does not publish prices, and full instructor paths cost more. Harmonika Institute's tuition appears in the comparison table.

How long does it take to train in kinesiology?

Touch for Health 1-4 totals 60 to 64 hours, taken as weekend modules or as a one-week Synthesis intensive, with proficiency and instructor training afterward. Brain Gym 101 takes 24 hours over 3 days, and the instructor path adds prerequisites and a 32-hour practicum. Three In One Concepts requires 12 sequenced classes, which often takes years.

Can I learn kinesiology online?

Some of it. Touch for Health is offered in person, online or hybrid, and Brain Gym 101 is taught in person or live on Zoom. Three In One Concepts teaches in person. Because muscle testing depends on touch, pressure and feedback, in-person practice helps you build reliable testing technique with a partner.

Is kinesiology certification accredited or a license?

Holistic kinesiology certificates are private credentials, not state licenses. The IKC sets the Touch for Health curriculum, and TFHKA courses count for NCBTMB and California BRN continuing education, as published. Harmonika Institute's Certified Holistic Kinesiology Practitioner is a private certification, not a license, and it is not an IKC certificate. It holds no outside accreditation. Check your state's rules on hands-on practice.

What is the difference between Touch for Health, Brain Gym and One Brain?

Touch for Health, created by John Thie, uses muscle testing on 14 to 42 muscles with meridians and reflex points. Brain Gym, or Educational Kinesiology, uses 26 movements and routines such as PACE to support learning. One Brain, from Three In One Concepts, uses muscle testing to defuse emotional stress and identify behavioral blocks.

Is holistic kinesiology the same as a kinesiology degree?

No. A university kinesiology degree studies human movement and exercise science. Holistic or specialized kinesiology, such as Touch for Health, Brain Gym or One Brain, is a wellness practice built on muscle testing and balancing. Its certificates are private, although Breakthroughs International accepts either university anatomy or kinesiology credits or Touch for Health toward its instructor requirements.

Methodology

How we compared these programs.

We selected the three organizations behind the main branches of holistic kinesiology in the U.S., each with a published curriculum, licensed instructors and a national presence: the Touch for Health Kinesiology Association with the International Kinesiology College, Breakthroughs International for Brain Gym, and Three In One Concepts. Data were collected from their websites and published instructor pages in September 2026. Prices are often set by instructors, so confirm details directly.
